GIVING BACK - Blessing others because we've been blessed!
THE ANNUAL MELANIE ANN PLAGERMAN
MEMORIAL BENEFIT FUNDRAISERS
8th Annual Melanie Show Fundraiser Weekend to Benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Seattle Children's Hospital Foundation
We gathered together for a fun weekend riding our horses and competing for some great awards! This year we decided to give half of our proceeds to the Seattle Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the other Half to the Seattle Children's Hospital Research Foundation - both great organizations that have blessed our membership over the years as well as our whole community.
We started the weekend with an Open Barrel Race followed by a Men's Calcutta Barrel Race on Saturday. Sunday we had a wonderful Cowboy Church service in the arena lead by Marv Tjoelker, followed by a fun day of games and awards!
We were able to raise over $9,000 this year to benefit these two great organizations!

7th Melanie Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser Weekend
We met for a FULL WEEKEND OF FUN as we raised funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Melanie's Honor. We began Saturday morning, March 10th with a Money-Added Barrel Race. Saturday evening at the Haggen's EXPO building we hosted a delicious Prime Rib Dinner served by Sunset Catering and held an Live Auction with entertainment from BRANCH & DEAN - the US celebrity ambassadors for the CF Foundation, here from Nashville, Tennessee.
On Sunday we started our day in the Washington Tractor Arena with a grand entry as Branch & Dean sang the National Anthem. Followed by Cowboy Church, where our worship team led us in song and Marv Tjoelker spoke on Meeting Jesus at the Well. We spent the rest of the day running our horses in a games show competition and ended the day with an awards ceremony.

Giving Back in other ways:
Interstate Princesses Washington vs Oregon Food Drive:
The princess of Oregon and Washington each challenged their states to a contest to see which state could be the most generous. On the weekend of July 19th the members from both states brought food items to be donated to local community needs. The Washington area food went to the people affected by the Charlton Complex Wildfires and the Maple Valley Food Bank. The Oregon items when to Yamhill Community Action Partnership Regional Food Bank.. The verdict is still out – and is to be announced at Interstate! Good job to everyone who donated!

FOSTER CARE PONY RIDES:
The Nooksack Valley Riders provided our local foster care kids an evening of Pony Rides, dinner and a show of gaming events and the local Rodeo Cowgirls came and entertained us all. What a neat experience to provide kids who have never had the opportunity to been near a horse, the chance actually to ride one!
